Methodology

How each tool counts usage

• Zapier (tasks): 1 task per successful action step. Triggers and built-in tools (Filter, Formatter, Paths, Delay) do not count. Last verified 2026-10-22.
• Make (credits): Most modules (including the trigger module) use 1 credit per run; routers and error handlers are free; some AI modules use more. Last verified 2026-10-22.
• n8n Cloud (executions): 1 execution per full workflow run, no matter how many steps. Last verified 2026-10-22.
• n8n self-hosted (executions): Community Edition is free and unlimited. Server cost not included. Last verified 2026-10-22.
• Activepieces (credits): 1 credit per run regardless of steps; AI steps cost 2-20 credits extra. Last verified 2026-10-22.
• Pipedream (credits): 1 credit per 30 seconds of compute per action/trigger event. We assume 1 credit per step (rough estimate). Last verified 2026-10-22.

Picking the plan

For each tool we take the cheapest published plan whose allowance covers your monthly usage. Where a vendor only shows a slider we could not read, we assume the same per-unit rate and tag the result "estimate". Plans we could not confirm are tagged "not verified" and never used in the maths or rankings.

Currencies

Prices are shown in USD by default. The currency picker converts them using Frankfurter API (ECB reference rates), https://api.frankfurter.dev/v1/latest?base=USD reference rates (as of 2026-10-22), refreshed weekly. Conversions are approximate: vendors bill in their own currency. Prices exclude GST/VAT and other taxes; vendors may add tax at checkout. Prices change often, so check the vendor page before buying.
